Expectations

An S.J.C. education is not just about getting a certificate; it is also about developing attitudes that will prepare a student to become a self-confident, self-respecting person of noble ideals who will be an asset to society. Such, at least, should be the intention of each S.J.C. student.

The main activity of the school is, of course, to teach various subjects. The students coming to S.J.C. Extension many times have difficulties in school. Often study skills are the problem. To get the most out of your studies, develop the following habits:

a) You should get into the habit of taking notes in class. You should have a notebook or blank for each subject and learn to note down the main points the teacher makes, especially points that are written on the chalkboard or that are stressed.

b) You should carefully write down assignments. It is advisable to have a small notebook in which each day’s assignments are noted down. You should begin doing assignments at the earliest possible time so that they will be completed when due.

c) You should keep corrected assignments, quizzes, and tests in a folder and should review them to ensure you learn anything you missed before.

d) You should spend at least two hours after school reading, doing homework, and reviewing past work. More time will be necessary before exam.
