Graduation Requirements

Students who successfully complete graduation requirements will be awarded a Saint John’s College high school diploma. Eligibility for graduation is determined by the graduation requirements published by the College in the year the student first entered First Form or transferred in to St. John’s College High School unless the College gives written notice otherwise.

Students are required to meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for graduation:

  • Complete a minimum of 124 credits in the required classes outlined below.
  • Obtain a minimum GPA of 2.00 in Fourth Form.
  • Not fail more than 14 credit hours for the academic year in Fourth Form.
  • Successfully complete one semester of Community Service in Third Form.
  • Successfully complete the core courses listed here.
  • Successfully complete the specific course requirements for concentration options listed here.

DIPLOMAS

Diplomas are awarded upon the satisfactory completion of the program of studies. Diplomas are generally awarded during commencement ceremonies. Students are expected to participate in commencement ceremonies and are required to attend graduation practices in order to be eligible to participate in the commencement ceremonies.

The school reserves the right based on disciplinary matters to bar a student from participating in commencement ceremonies and to withhold diplomas and transcripts for non-payment of fees.

Permanent records of grades are kept in the college offices to substantiate the diplomas. All records are kept and held in strict confidence.

English: Four (4) years
Math: Three (3) years
Spanish: Three (3) years
Information Technology: Three (3) years
Social Studies: One (1) year at the lower-secondary level
Religion: Three (3) years
English Literature: Three (3) years
Caribbean History: One (1) year at the upper-secondary level

Arts & Science (A)**
Two (2) years

Two (2) years

  1. Visual Arts
  2. Physics/Geography
  3. Technical Drawing

Business (A)**
Two (2) years

  1. Principles of Accounts
  2. Principles of Business
  3. Integrated Science

Business (B)**
Two (2) years

  1. Principles of Accounts
  2. Economics
  3. Integrated Science

** Of the three subjects within a concentration, two must be passed each year. It is required that each of the three subjects within a concentration be passed at least one year within the two-year course.


Extension Spotlight



Extension building was renamed Stochl Hall on January 22, 2009 in honor of Fr. John Stochl SJ, who founded St. John’s College Extension in 1947.
