1. What do I need to have to be given early acceptance into first form?
You need to have an overall average of 80% in standards 5 and 6, as well as a good recommendation from your principal or standard six teacher.
2. We do not get our standard 6 third term grades until June. Will this affect my application?
No, we only use first and second term standard 6 grades since these are the ones available at the time.
3. Does SJC use the Primary School Examinations (PSE) for admission into first form?
Once you have an average of 80% or above in standards 5 and 6, we do not use the PSE for admission. If your average is below 80%, then the PSE is used to select from the remaining applicants.
4. I live outside the country of Belize and did not sit the PSE. Will I be considered for admission into first form?
Yes, you will.
5. What if I am given early acceptance into first form and I score below a B in my Mathematics and English PSE exams?
Any student accepted into St. John’s College scoring below a B in the PSE Mathematics and English exams must take summer classes in those subjects here at SJC.
6. When will I know if I am accepted into first form?
If you meet the requirements for early acceptance, you will get an acceptance letter in early May after PSE Day 2. If you are on the waiting list, you will be informed if you are accepted after the PSE scores are released.
7. Why are applications for transfer students processed until June?
We need to get your transcript of the completed school year to know if you passed or failed the year at the school you are transferring from.
