St. John's College offers summer courses to incoming and returning students.
Entrants who score C or below in English or Mathematics, or in both of them, in the Belize Primary School Examinations must successfully pass our summer course for each subject.
Returning students take remedial classes. The grades are used to determine promotion to the next form. The courses offered during the summer are usually limited to the core subjects. SUMMER SCHOOL
St. John’s College High School, in an effort to provide students with as many opportunities as possible to complete their requirements for graduation, offers courses during the summer in the core subjects. In order to assist students to meet both promotional and graduation requirements, summer school is offered to students for subjects in which they earn a yearly average of D+. Students receiving a C in any core subject are encouraged to do summer school to improve their chances of success in the higher forms.
Students in summer school are required to complete a semester’s worth of work over a period of five weeks.
Grades earned by students who do summer school courses for enrichment will not be used to replace existing grades earned on the report card.
SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION
Summer school is separate from the regular school year and involves a separate registration, which takes place during the second half of June after report cards have been issued. Students may and are encouraged to sign up for classes prior to this day; however, they will not be placed on class lists until they register. All students registering for summer school must report to the office to receive a registration number which must be presented to the bank in order to make payment. Payments must be made at the respective banks, and students must provide proof of payment before being admitted to classes. Fees for summer school are non-refundable.
