Ms. Lydia McCoy, M.A.,
Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and
Chair of the Academic Council, SJC Junior College
Office of Academic Affairs
The Office of Academic Affairs creates, supports, and enhances a student-centred academic environment which frames the college's mission and vision. It is the administrative centre which drives the academic enterprise at SJCJC. Responsible to the dean of the junior college, it has three primary roles:
Leading. The Office of Academic Affairs working with dean, faculty and academic council articulates an academic vision for the junior college, sets the overall academic direction of the junior college, and establishes the academic agenda for the future.
Facilitating. Through its role in the establishment of programmes, policies, procedures, and standards; in the selection, evaluation, and development of faculty and staff; in the review of academic programmes; and in the provision of information, it facilitates the accomplishment of the college's mission and its academic goals.
Coordinating. It sets a context for the college's various academic departments, programmes, and services - maintaining a broad and coherent institutional perspective, so that the needs and character of individual programs are addressed within an institutional framework.
