Charles T. Hunter Commission for Social Outreach

The Charles T. Hunter Commission for Social Outreach is presently engaged in several projects in the community. It recently assisted St. Ignatius Primary School in Belize City in refurbishing their computer lab which had been idle for lack of funds to maintain and upgrade the equipment. It has also recently assisted Delille Academy in Dangriga in purchasing sewing machines which they desperately needed for their sewing program.

Presently, the Commission is working with professors from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri and the Ministry of Education in preparing an early childhood screening instrument which can be implemented in the educational system to identify children who are in need of special assistance from the National Resource Center for Inclusive Education (NaRCIE).

As preparatory work for the new academic year begins, the Hunter Commission is in the planning phase for projects that can involve the students and employees of St. John's College.

The Hunter Commission would also like to invite schools and other organizations that would like some assistance to contact the Director to consider whether their projects are viable within the scope of the funds available to the Hunter Commission.
