The Charles T. Hunter Commission
for Social Outreach

Missions and Goals

Mission:

St. John’s College is committed to the vision and values of the Roman Catholic Church and the Society of Jesus and is dedicated to the people of Belize. In keeping with this commitment and dedication, St. John’s College strives to encourage a deeper understanding of and respect for the history and culture(s) of Belize, and to broaden the College’s vision and concern to include all our brothers and sisters around the world, especially those who are poor and struggling to find that freedom in Christ which alone can bring peace to the human heart.

The purpose of the Charles T. Hunter Commission for Social Outreach is to enable the College to fulfill its mission through social outreach. The Charles T. Hunter Commission for Social Outreach emphasizes St. John’s College’s responsibility as an institutional public citizen.

Goals:

In taking up this institutional responsibility, the Charles T. Hunter Commission for Social Outreach aims to:

  1. Promote awareness of and involvement in addressing Belizean social issues in the campus community as well as in the wider society;
  2. Motivate and participate in action for peace and justice in the Belizean society;
  3. Build commitment for positive change in the Belizean society and work actively to realize such change;
  4. Encourage and spearhead a deeper understanding of and respect for the history and culture of Belize.
