The Institute for Workforce and Economic Development is a unit within the School of Professional Studies (SPS) that provides education and training for community residents. The institute serves as a hub, bringing together industry and education for discussions on curriculum and training.

SPS Institute for Workforce and Economic Development and assists area businesses and individuals who need customized training and education. The Institute’s programs are also designed to provide developmental classes, adult basic education, and more advanced community and leadership training. The institute collaborates with the SJC Extension Division to support adult workers who need to earn a GED certificate. In addition, the institute works closely with the SJC Centre for Business and Career Development to provide a range of career and small business development training opportunities.
