| Art students create a sculpture garden at S.J.C. |

Following months of planning, the faculty and students of the Arts Program at the Saint John’s College Junior College inaugurated its newest project, a sculpture garden located on the campus. The garden was created by lecturers: Yasser Musa, Damian Perdomo and Kirkland Smith with help from students of the three-dimensional designer class. It is not the typical garden and instead of a floral setting, metals and stones are used to provide a creative inspiration. News Five spoke with the artists who told us more.

Journal of Belizean Studies chronicles Guatemalan claim
It is known that the Guatemalan Congress has not given the green light to take the Guatemalan claim to the International Court of Justice. In Belize, the government has given its support but the jury is still out in respect of how Belizeans feel about going the I.C.J. way. In both countries the question must go to referendum simultaneously.

New Jesuit Provincial Named
Father Adolfo Nicolás, Superior General of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), has appointed Father Douglas W. Marcouiller, 55, as the next provincial of the Missouri Province. He will have responsibility for some 300 Jesuits working in St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Belize, and in many other places throughout the world. Father Marcouiller will succeed the current provincial, Father Timothy M. McMahon, on July 31, 2009.
