Belize Ministry of Health and Wellness Hosts Scholarship Awards Ceremony
The Ministry of Health and Wellness of Belize, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), proudly hosted a Scholarship Awards Ceremony on September 3, 2026. This significant event highlights the ongoing commitment to enhancing the healthcare sector in Belize through educational opportunities.
Among the 67 scholarship recipients, 12 dedicated students from St. John’s College School of Nursing were honored, representing both Associate and Bachelor’s degree programs. This initiative is a vital part of the Ministry’s strategic focus on strengthening human resources for health, addressing the pressing shortages of nursing and medical professionals, and ultimately enhancing the capacity of Belize’s public health system.
The scholarship opportunity is not merely a pathway to academic qualifications; it embodies a commitment to fostering future healthcare leaders. Recipients are encouraged to make meaningful contributions to the health and well-being of the Belizean population they will serve upon graduation. Celebrating Academic Excellence at St. John’s College
In addition to the scholarship achievements, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the SJC Nursing students for their remarkable accomplishments. For the second consecutive year, they achieved a 100% pass rate, with four Wildcats ranking among the Top 5 nationally in the 2026 Practical Nursing Licensure Examination. This outstanding performance underscores the dedication and hard work of both the students and the faculty.
The hard work and perseverance of our students continue to make St. John’s College proud. As we celebrate these achievements, we look forward to seeing how our graduates will contribute to the health sector and the overall well-being of the Belizean community.
